CONTRAST: In my example for contrast, I used videos taken by a family friend from their trips to Antartica and Africa. I wanted to contrast both the settings and the behaviors of both the penguins and the lion, and I think it came out quite well.
PARALLELISM: For my edit of parallelism, I took videos of the cups in my house and attempted to relate the ways they are used. In one shot I was putting a cup in the cabinet, in another I took and placed a cup on my desk, and in the final shot my sister took a drink from the cup.
SYMBOLISM: The symbolism that I used in this edit was a circle. I connected the videos of my clock, cup bottom, projector, and candle by connecting the videos which showed their circular forms. This edit created a common element of repetition from the circle, and related the different items together.
SIMULTANEITY: I used simultaneity in this film by cutting back and forth between videos of my brother at a ropes course, while I hiked a mountain with my friends. These events occurred at the same time throughout the day, but my brother was doing a completely different activity than I was, in a different setting and space.
LEITMOTIFF: My use of Leitmotif was the repetition of my brother appearing in the films. I added a sound over the movie, every time that he appeared on camera. The circus-like sound reflects my brother's goofy nature, which is seen in the videos he is in.
